OxygenOS 9.0.13 and 9.0.5 for the OnePlus 6T/6 bring March 2019 security patches

The OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T were not just the best-selling OnePlus devices ever released, but they were also highlights of 2018’s smartphone ecosystem. Despite their relatively low (but slowly increasing with every generation) price points, they still managed to deliver powerful hardware (such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and an in-display fingerprint scanner in the case of the OnePlus 6T). The phones also receive regular OxygenOS software updates.

After rolling out the April 2019 security patches to the OnePlus 6T/6/5T/5 (in the latest open betas) and delivering a public beta of Android Pie to the OnePlus 3/3T, the company is now rolling out a new stable branch update for their 2018 flagships. The newest stable updates, with version numbers OxygenOS 9.0.13 for the OnePlus 6T and OxygenOS 9.0.5 for the OnePlus 6, do not bring a lot feature-wise, but they do bring the March 2019 security patches. Given OnePlus’ closed beta –> open beta –> public stable release plan, it’s no surprise that the latest stable only has the March 2019 patches while the latest beta has the latest April 2019 patches.

The update doesn’t really bring much more than that. There are some miscellaneous bug fixes and stability improvements here and there, and there’s a new feature within the Community app. We recommend downloading for improved security, though. The update is now rolling out in waves, and it will reach a broader range of users within the following days. If you don’t want to wait, however, then you can check out Oxygen Updater to download it now.
